The incident happened on Saturday afternoon near Mondawmin Mall, according to the Baltimore police department. Police said that during the confrontation, an unidentified male subject fired a pistol while escaping from the scene. The unnamed girl was struck in the upper torso at impact. Officials have stated that the child who was present at the shopping center with her mother was not the intended target of the attack. According to the police, she was taken to the hospital on Saturday evening with many gunshot wounds and was listed in a critical but stable condition when she arrived there due to her injuries.
The authorities were searching for the suspect on Sunday as part of their investigation. Baltimore Police is also investigating, a shooting that claimed the life of a 23-year-old male in North Baltimore on Sunday night. Police discovered the unidentified man with a gunshot wound to his neck inside the car in the 4900 block of Palmer Avenue. Before paramedics could arrive, officers performed CPR on the man, but he passed away at scene of the incident, according to authorities.
