After the untimely passing of our sister Eleanor, the entire WCOBA family is in a state of sadness. After spending more than 17 years working for the Westchester County Board of Elections, Officer Birrittella was an incredible addition to the Westchester County Department of Corrections (WCDOC) when she joined us less than three years ago. Her position as a prison officer was one that she took great pride in, and she was held in high esteem. All of her family members are in our thoughts and prayers at this time, Westchester COBA said in a Facebook post.
Eleanor Birrittella, a correction officer for Westchester County, was identified as the person who passed away as a result of a single motorcycle accident that took place on the Bronx River Parkway in Scarsdale on Saturday afternoon. The Bronx River Parkway was the location where the accident took place.
During the time that has passed since then, Correction Commissioner Joseph Spano has made a statement in which he states, in part, that “by all accounts, Eleanor was an exceptional correction officer who was respected by both her colleagues and the individuals in our care.”
Her coworkers informed News 12 that she was the kind of girl who could always bring a grin to the workplace. This was due to the fact that she was so enthusiastic about the work that she actually did.
More than 17 years of Birrittella’s career have been spent working for the Westchester County Board of Elections, where she has been employed since October 2021. Presently, she is working for the Westchester County Department of Corrections as an authorized employee. Furthermore, her family has a lengthy history of working in the penal system spanning several generations.
